Reed-Williams Insurance team wins Sans Bois CASA Charity Golf Tournament on Friday

The Reed-Williams Insurance team (no names of the team members were provided) won the first flight title in Friday afternoon's Sans Bois CASA Charity Golf Tournament at Wolf Ridge Golf Course. The team's score was a 56.
The foursome of Jim Bo Holstead, Buzz Glover, Joe Davidson and Billy Terry won the second flight championship with a score of 65. The quartet donated their winnings back to the organization.

Oct. 12, 2011. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 18, at New Hope Cemetery, Spiro, under the
direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Stigler.

Accident results in charges for two women

Two women who were
injured in a single vehicle
accident near Lake Carl
Albert on State Highway
82 were formally charged
by the LeFlore County
District Attorney’s Office
Wednesday after it was
determined that the driver
was allegedly under the
influence of alcohol.
According to the affidavit
filed by Trooper Tim
Baker, he arrived at the
scene of the accident to
find a red Ford car that
had ran off the roadway
and rolled over.
According to a witness,
the car had been traveling
southbound and suddenly
ran off the west side of the
road then overcorrected

CASC scholars take helping others to heart

students a project they
started last year has done

annual event.

scholars will host the
Second Annual CASC
Harvest Carnival. The carnival
is designed for special
education students in grades
three through eight from

when students of the college

special students with a day

Organizers of the first annual Oktoberfest sponsored by Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church in Poteau say that the event, which was held last Saturday, was a

Heavener, Talihina look to return to winning ways as they meet in District 2A-6 contest tonight

The Heavener Wolves and the Talihina Golden Tigers are both looking to return to the win column, although only one will as they face each other at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Doc Robinson Stadium.
The Wolves (1-5, 0-3 in district play) lost their third straight game, losing 20-7 to the Wilburton Diggers at Harvey Stadium.

Arkoma welcomes Midway for big District C-4 showdown tonight

The Arkoma Mustangs football team is in the driver's seat in District C-4, but the road is about ready to be lined with some speed bumps.
“There's still three teams there — Midway, Webbers Falls and us — who are still undefeated in the district,” Arkoma Coach Mark Weatherton said. “We'll be playing among us for the next couple of weeks. It's a big game for us. I think if we win this one, we'll have a good chance to host a playoff game. It ought to be a great football game with a large crowd — for a Class C game.”

Spiro Bulldogs have shot at undefeated Seminole tonight

With a two-game winning streak under their belts, the Spiro Bulldogs will try to do something no one has this season — knock off the Seminole Chieftains at 7:30 p.m. tonight at McClain Stadium.
“They're undefeated, big and sound,” Spiro Coach Chris Bunch said. “They don't make mistakes. They're well coached. They do everything right. They don't make mistakes. Right now, they're the ideal team to have.”
The Bulldogs (3-3, 2-1 in District 3A-8) are in a three-way tie for second place in the district with Stigler and Eufaula, one game behind the Chieftains (6-0, 3-0).

Panama goes for upset win over No. 4 Vian

For the past six weeks, Class 2A's fourth-ranked Vian Wolverines have handled the opposition. For Week 7, the opposition will be the Panama Razorbacks at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Vian.
The Razorbacks (0-6, 0-3 in District 2A-6) will look to end their 16-game losing streak in tonight's game against the Wolverines (6-0, 2-0). First-year Coach Brandon Ellis said his team is going to do nothing any different than in the previous six weeks.

Pocola Indians look to continue momentum tonight into Hartshorne
