Have you ever heard the old saying "It is better to give then to receive"?
This holiday season is your chance to give. The Boy Scout Troop 30, American Veterans 63, The Poteau Post Office, and the Poteau Daily News are sponsoring From Poteau With Love, a campaign to send gifts from home to local soldiers that are currently serving their country overseas during the holiday season.
After some good eatings Wednesday night at Western Sizzlin' in Poteau, the seeds are now set for both the junior high and high school LeFlore County Basketball Tournament.
In the high school boys, the Spiro Bulldogs got the top seed, with Poteau second and Heavener third. Wister is fourth, followed by Cameron, Pocola, Leflore, Howe, Panama, defending champion Talihina, Whitesboro, Arkoma and Bokoshe.
WILBURTON — In a battle of LeFlore County teams in Latimer County, the Leflore Lady Savages got their second win of the season as they defeated the Cameron Lady Yellowjackets 48-36 Wednesday in the Eastern Oklahoma State College Tournament at EOSC's Claud C. Dunlap Fieldhouse.
The Yellowjackets had to go overtime before putting away the pesky Panola Bearcats by a score of 76-66.
At Wilburton High School, the Savages downed the Battiest Panthers 56-46.
The Poteau Tip-In Club will have a tailgate party before Tuesday's Poteau High School basketball teams' home openers against Spiro at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse.
The tailgate party will have hamburger baskets for $5, sponsored by Bud’s Country Junction, JoB Construction Company, Inc. and The Community State Bank.

I went fishing with Jason Wickware Saturday morning at Lake Tenkiller. When we got there, it was cloudy, 47 degrees and the wind was blowing out of the east at 13 mph. When the wind blows out of the east, fish bite least!
I knew it was going to be tough fishing, but Jason caught a three-pound largemouth, and I pulled in a little smallmouth two casts later. But that would prove to be all we'd catch for a while.
The rain came down hard, along with some very strong winds. We caught only three more fish the rest of the day. Any day of fishing is better than working!
