Monday night was the Major League Baseball All-Star Game's Home Run Derby. This morning, several youth will get to participate in one, and then some.
The Skills Competition, which will include a home run derby, a pitching competition and a base-running competition, will take place beginning at 11 a.m. this morning at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex.
The pitching competition is to see who can throw the fastest pitch, while the base-running competition will see who is the fastest from second base to home plate.
The Poteau American Legion AAA baseball team's home doubleheader against Muskogee did not happen Monday night in Wister.
It was determined that when Muskogee could not make this date, it decided to play the game in late June.
So, the next games for Poteau (15-14), which has lost four straight games, will be its regular-season twinbill finale against Okmulgee in Wister.
The games are slated for 4 p.m. Friday, but Poteau Coach Shain Turnipseed that the games may be moved to Sunday afternoon.
As of press time, the games were still set for Friday afternoon.
