Local ropers win regional team roping championship

STEPHENVILLE, Texas ­— Two local ropers were big winners during the recent United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC) Lone Star Regional Finals at the Extraco Heart of Texas Events Center in Waco, Texas. Caleb Sebo of Spiro, roped five steers in a time of 38.37 with partner Jeff Hunter of Talihina, defeating 116 other teams to win custom Martin trophy saddles and $6,338 of the $15,884 purse. The win qualified both ropers to the Cinch USTRC National Finals of Team Roping Oct. 22-30 in Oklahoma City.
