Last week, the Poteau Pirates lost their District 4A-4 opener to the Hilldale Hornets, which was their second loss in a row after opening the season 2-0.
“It was disappointing since we were going in feeling very confident,” Poteau High School senior place-kicker Blake Williams said. “We were pretty sure we had it set up in a way that was going to be a pretty sure way for us to win.”
HEAVENER — In a regional-tournament tune-up game for both teams, the Heavener Lady Wolves were able to outlast the Wister Lady Wildcats 9-8 in a nine-inning, international-tiebreaker contest Tuesday afternoon.
Editor's Note — Panama treated its games in Tuesday's three-way at Red Oak with Sequoyah-Tahlequah as scrimmages.
BOKOSHE — It took four tries, but the Bokoshe Tigers football team got its first win of 2011 as well as the first win for new Bokoshe Coach Tyler Massey last Friday night in a thrilling 48-42 win over Eagle Point Christian Academy.
“Everybody was excited,” Massey said. “It was a good win for these kids. We just have to keep trying to improve.”
Now, the Tigers (1-3, 0-2 in District C-4) will return to district play with a 7:30 p.m. Friday road game at Claremore Christian.
