Oklahoma Elite eliminated from World Series Saturday morning

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Oklahoma Elite softball team was hoping to win five games on Saturday to stay alive in the 2011 World Series. Unfortunately, that did hot happen.
The Clay Center (Kan.) B's rallied to down the Elite 2-1 in an elimination game Saturday morning. The loss ended Elite's season.

Spiro football duo happy to be a part of All-State Game; QB Mitchem throws two TD passes as Hawkins does yeoman's job on the ground

BROKEN ARROW — Last December when the 2011 All-State Football Game Roster was announced, two Spiro Bulldogs, quarterback Clayton Mitchem and running back Elliott Hawkins, were not on it — only listed as alternates.
But thanks to Tulsa Union's Kale Pearson and Tulsa Washington's Isaac Bennett could not make the game, Mitchem and Hawkins, respectively, were named as their replacements for the East team. Needless to say both Bulldogs were happy campers.

Garvis Leon Crenshaw

Garvis Leon Crenshaw
was born Oct. 31, 1943, in
Poteau to Robert and Eller
(Goins) Crenshaw. He died
July 26, 2011, in Shreveport,
La., at the age of 67.
Garvis served in the U.S.
Army during the Vietnam
War. He married Rebecca
Braden on Jan. 3, 1989, in Hugo. He
enjoyed spending time with family and
friends, especially his grandchild.
Garvis was preceded in death by his
parents; brothers Lewis Crenshaw, Junior
Crenshaw and Edgar Crenshaw; and sisters
Margie Parker, Hazel Carson and Dorene
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca

District Attorney's Investigators search for infants remains

Investigators for the LeFlore County District Attorney's Office have spent the last two days searching for the remains of an infant they discovered was buried on the property of a husband and wife charged with child neglect following an investigatio into possible child abuse.
According to an application for exhumation filed by Assistant District Attorney Meg Nicholson on Tuesday, the remains of an infant born to a minor child of James Haskin, 61, and Lucinda Haskin, 39, of LeFlore County was buried on property belonging to the couple after an alleged still birth.
