Cameron boys humbled by Oktaha in Eagle Classic

RED OAK — During Wednesday afternoon's game in the Eagle Classic, Cameron Baseball Coach Kevin Lomon asked Tournament Director and Red Oak Coach Trey Booth if he could start the contest all over once more. Lomon and the Yellowjackets would have done anything to get an answer of yes.
The Oktaha Tigers blasted the ’Jackets for nine runs in the first inning en route to a 12-0, three-inning, run-rule victory in the opening round of the Classic at Eagle Field.

Talihina football team gets its first game-like situation tonight in home scrimmage with Quinton Savages

A lot of people, especially the Talihina Golden Tigers football team itself, is anxious to see just how good they can be this season with a bunch of new faces.
That first chance will come at 7 p.m. tonight at Doc Robinson Stadium in a scrimmage against the Quinton Savages.

SPIRO — Meochea McKesson's two-out, RBI single with the bases loaded in the eighth inning lifted the Spiro Lady Bulldogs to a 9-8 victory over the Panama Lady Razorbacks.
Arkoma 8, Wilson 3; Panola 9, Arkoma 7: At Robbers Cave Shootout in Wilburton, the Lady Mustangs (2-5) split their first two games in the weeklong event.
Heavener 12, Westville 3; Kansas 8, Heavener 2: In Westville, the Lady Wolves (5-2) split their games in Tuesday's three-way.
Keota 11, Pocola 3: In Pocola, the Lady Indians (1-4) took a 2-1 lead in the opening inning.

SMITHVILLE — The Wister Wildcats ran their record to 3-0 Tuesday afternoon with a 17-4 five-inning, run-rule victory over the Smithville Braves.
Braggs 10, Leflore 2: In Braggs, the loss dropped the Savages to 1-2 on the season.

CASC welcomes students back to dorms

Today is the first day of classes at Carl
Albert State College and yesterday students
received their dorm assignments.
The housing facilities at CASC are able
to provide approximately 300 students
with on-site dormitory housing. This provides
students with a unique academic and
social environment of on-campus living
through the Scholars Center, Residential
Program Housing, and Athletic Housing.
CASC also currently has a waiting list for
students wishing to reside in the dorms.

Strong third inning breaks close game open as Poteau girls post home victory over Wister; Lady Pirate pitcher throws no-hitter against Lady Wildcats

For two innings, Tuesday afternoon's fast-pitch softball game between the Wister Lady Wildcats and the Poteau Lady Pirates looked as if one run would win the contest.
Then, came the third inning.
Poteau sent 14 batters to the plate in an 11-run offensive outburst as the Lady Pirates ended up run ruling the Lady Wildcats 12-0 in three innings.

Howe girls beat Canadian, Weleetka in Robbers Cave Shootout on Tuesday; Lady Lions also get forfeited win over Clayton

WILBURTON — The Howe Lady Lions beat two teams, and posted three wins, at the Robbers Cave Shootout on Tuesday.
Howe rallied to down Canadian 7-2, then had another rally to post a 4-3 victory over Weleetka.
The Weleetka game was to have been against Clayton, but at game time Clayton forfeited the game to Howe, thus the Lady Lions' third win on the day. So, the Lady Lions played the Lady Outlaws in their place.

Poteau girls handle Pocola in home opener on Monday

The Poteau Lady Pirates began their home season of their fall 2011 campaign Monday night in fine fashion as they run ruled the Pocola Lady Indians 11-1 in four innings.
The game was originally scheduled to be played in Pocola, but its field was unplayable — so, the match-up was moved to Poteau.

HOWE — The Howe Lady Lions began their home portion of their fast-pitch softball season in fine fashion Monday afternoon as they swept a doubleheader from the Arkoma Lady Mustangs by scores of 13-2 and 12-6.
Spiro 3, Heavener 0: In Spiro, in a battle of unbeaten teams, the Lady Bulldogs (5-0) prevailed.
Talihina 7, Stigler 6, 9 inn.: In Talihina, the Lady Golden Tigers broke a 6-6 tie on Brooke Berna's RBI hit.
Oktaha 1, Panama 0: In Oktaha, the host Lady Tigers broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning to get the win.
