A 27-14 lead at halftime proved to be the difference for the No. 1 ranked South Plains, Texas, in its 61-47 win over the Carl Albert State College Vikings in their second and final game of the Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday afternoon in Plano, Texas.
After an enjoyable week free from high school basketball last week due to the Thanksgiving break, it's now time to get hot and heavy into some serious hoops.
Four schools — Heavener, Panama, Pocola and Talihina — will begin their seasons this week, and Poteau and Spiro will do so next week.

Wow!! I did not write a column last week, but what about the Sooners and the victories they have had the last two weeks. I know they were very ugly wins, but I only have one thing to say about that — I would rather win ugly than lose ugly. I am of the belief that the game against Texas Christian is going to be the same kind of game.
