The Friends of the Library support group is hosting a sheet sale from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Days Inn & Suites in Poteau. The sheets are Egyptian cotton 1,200-thread count. Twin sets are $35, full and queen $40, and king and California king are $45.
Proceeds from the sheet sale will go toward furnishing the Patrick Lynch Public Library so that it may open as scheduled in May.
On Monday night, the Poteau City Council addressed the issue of temporary signs, such as garage sale and political, that remain posted after the event is over.
According to Poteau Mayor Jeff Shockley, he and city attorney Marc Bovos, have been asked to research ordinances and to use that knowledge to create an ordinance for Poteau.
Shockley said an example of an ordinance would limit political signs from being placed earlier than 30 days before the election and must be removed within 48 hours after the election. Garage sale signs would have a 48 hour window either way.
