TULSA — The Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team has not lost back-to-back games this season, and did not want to have happen last weekend as it entertained the Central Florida Knights for the second time in three weeks at Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium. However, Saturday's meeting was for all the marbles — the 2012 Conference USA championship.
Malinda Scott, 88, of Spiro died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012.
Services will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 8, at Spiro First Baptist Church with burial in Fort Coffey Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
The Town of Pocola may find themselves owing the Internal Revenue Service more than $8,000 for unpaid back taxes.
According to Town Clerk John Limbocker, the problem occurred when the previous Deputy Clerk, Sally Deselms, failed to keep her records up to date. Limbocker said the problem has since been solved after Deselms was replaced six weeks ago with Amanda Goldsmith.
According to Limbocker, $8,200 is the financial burden the town may have to pay in interest after being fined and penalized for failure to pay taxes.

Hundreds of children filled the lobby of The Community State Bank Wednesday as school children sang Christmas carols and had their picture taken with Santa Claus.
The open house will also be held Thursday from 9:15 a.m. until 2:15 p.m.
Thursday's entertainers include students from Cameron, The Methodist Church, Choctaw Headstart, Kibois Headstart, Monroe and Poteau. Also performing is the Clark family, Makala Wood, 4His Glory, Leah Peters and Linzy Blankenship and Holly Cinocca.
Ruth Agnes Forehand, 94, of McAlester died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, in McAlester. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Dowden Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
