TALIHINA — Nothing like celebrating homecoming with a thrilling victory, and that’s just what the Talihina Lady Golden Tigers did Friday night on Chris Gillespie Court at Ray Henson Gymnasium.
Down 18-7 after one period, the Lady Golden Tigers tied the game with a buzzer-beater to send the game into overtime. Then, the locals used a strong OT period to win, 51-43.
With seven seconds left, the Lady Savages led 39-36 and were getting ready to shoot the one-and-one. Jeff Oliver, Talihina’s coach, called timeout to ice the shooter — and it worked.

For the second straight week, let me apologize for the space constraints in a Tuesday edition. I only was able to get two pages, thus I will have to hold the story on the Green Valley Conference Tournament until Wednesday's paper — since I do want to do it right because it is the inaugural one — and six LeFlore County teams left the Arkoma Gym with trophies.
Again, folks, I do apologize for you GVC fans having to wait one more day.
