STROUD — The Bokoshe Lady Tigers suffered their first Class B playoff loss of the season Saturday night as they lost the title game of the Class B Regional Tournament 52-34 to the Deer Creek-Lamont (DCLA) Lady Eagles.
The Lady Tigers still advanced to this week's Class B Area Tournament in Cleveland, Okla., since they are the regional runners-up. Bokoshe will play Burlington at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, with wins needed in that game as well as Friday and Saturday afternoon's consolation championship game to make next week's Class B State Tournament.
PANAMA — Two LeFlore County basketball teams won Class 2A District Tournament titles Saturday night at the Panama Gym.
The host Lady Razorbacks defeated archrival Pocola 58-49, while the Pocola Indians got past the Gore Pirates 63-42 to win in Saturday night's title games.
Both Pocola teams had to stave off elimination on Friday night. The Lady Indians defeated the Gore Lady Pirates 69-51, while the Indians got past their archrivals from Panama 69-51.
The Panama girls and the Pocola teams all advanced to this week's Class 2A Regional Tournament, which will begin Thursday at the Howe Gym.
KANSAS, Okla. — The postseason did not begin the way the Heavener High School basketball teams had hoped.
The Lady Wolves and Wolves were handled by the host Kansas teams in Friday night's Class 3A District Tournament. The Lady Comets defeated the Lady Wolves 69-27, while the Comets then beat the Wolves 52-36.
STROUD — The seasons came to an end for the Leflore High School teams Friday afternoon at the Class B Regional Tournament as they lost their consolation semifinal games.
The Lady Savages lost 52-36 to the Braggs Lady Wildcats, while the Savages fell 55-45 to the Mason Eagles.
In the girls' contest, the Lady Savages (6-21) only trailed 12-10 after one period, but the Lady ’Cats slowly pulled away from there. Braggs led 32-23 at halftime and 45-27 after three periods.
