Poteau boys soccer team handles Heavener in Thursday night's scrimmage; Lady Wolves, Lady Pirates play to tie

February 25, 2012

The Most Valuable Player of these two games between the Poteau and Heavener soccer teams in Thursday night's scrimmages at Costner Stadium was the powerful north winds. At times the winds blew so hard it added some wicked English on shots that went across the field.
In the boys' game, with the air stream at their backs, the Pirates scored five second-half goals and won the game 5-0.

Torn between Lakers, Thunder

OKLAHOMA CITY — Growing up a Los Angeles Lakers fan, Thursday night’s game was kind of hard to watch. In one way, I couldn’t lose because I liked both teams. But then either way one of my teams was going to lose.
I first remember watching the Lakers play in the 1980 NBA Finals against the Philadelphia 76ers. Magic Johnson played all five positions on the floor that game as the Lakers pulled out the Game 6 victory, and secured the NBA Championship that year.
