WILBURTON — After finishing third in last week's LeFlore County Tournament, the Pocola Lady Indians went 2-1 in Friday's Wilburton Festival.
Pocola beat Indianola 12-0 and host Wilburton 14-1 before losing 8-7 to Hartshorne.
The trio of Kale Holton, Jonathan Burgess and Kevin Traywick won Saturday's Spring 3-Person Scramble Saturday afternoon at Choctaw Country Club. They had a team score of 58.
Also having a 58 was the trio of Bobby Pickle, Tim Painter and Kody Whitehead. On a scorecard playoff, however, the top spot was given to Holton, Burgess and Traywick, but both teams were awarded $150.
Lyle Whitworth, Randall Wheat and Heath McBeth were third (60).
I had a short phone visit on Tuesday morning with State Representative James Lockhart and a couple of officials from the Department of Wildlife Conservation about the new regulation that now prohibits baiting on Wildlife Management Area lands. I really appreciated Mr. Lockhart taking the time to read my column and respond.
The conversation included issues regarding hunter conflicts, and possible disease spreading because of concentration of deer at feeders.
Lockhart is going to get back with me soon so I can give his comment.
