Poteau soccer boys hunt down Hugo Buffaloes

April 20, 2012

In District 4A-6 soccer, there is a definite difference between the upper division teams — Heavener, Fort Gibson and Poteau, who without a doubt are title contenders — and the lower division teams — Hugo, Stilwell and Westville — which are mired deep in the lower division.
The Hugo Buffaloes picked a bad time to roll into Costner Stadium on Wednesday as the Pirates were still upset after Tuesday night's defeat at the hands of the Heavener Wolves in double OT. Then, too, the Buffaloes were minus their starting goaltender, who didn’t make grade and had to sit this game out.

The Lady Vikings, who were run ruled 13-2 in six innings in the opener, knocked off the nationally-ranked Lady Pioneers 8-7 in nine innings in the nightcap.
