The Carl Albert State College Vikings baseball team split its home doubleheader with Northern Oklahoma College-Enid Thursday afternoon at Ival Goodman Field.
The Vikings took a 4-3 win in the opener, but fell 8-3 in the nightcap.
The same two teams will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader Sunday at Enid's David Allen Memorial Ballpark â€” the site of the 2012 NJCAA World Series.
WISTER â€” Last year, Carl Albert State College signed three LeFlore County players. Add one more for next year's roster.
Wister Wildcat senior pitcher/catcher Cody Luman signed a letter of intent last week with the Vikings.
â€śI just really like the program, and it's been doing pretty good lately,â€ť Luman said. â€śAnd, it's close to home. I'm excited about it.â€ť
â€śHe has meant a lot to this program,â€ť Wister Coach John McAlester said. â€śHe's thrown some big ball games for us. He's just one of those kids who is good to just have around.â€ť
Mountain Gateway Sisterhood of Steel will play Oklahoma City Roller Derby's Lightning Broads at 11 a.m. this morning at SkateReation.
Sisterhood of Steel returns to the rink following last week's 204-98 victory over Tulsa Derby Brigade's Beta Corps in what should be a hard fought battle.
"The Lightning Broads are a far more experienced team and this will be a real test for us, but I believe that with our Jammers and Blockers, on our home floor, and in front of our fans, we could put up another W," SOS Coach Keith Clarke said. "This is definitely going to be an entertaining game."

OKLAHOMA CITY â€” The bad news for the Poteau Pirates golf team was for the first time this season they did not place in a tournament.
However, the good news was they had by far their best tournament of the season as they were eighth at the Class 4A Preview, which took place Monday at Lake Hefner North Golf Course. The Pirates had a team score of 307, but were well behind the team champion Heritage Hall (283).
David White, 64, of Talihina died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at the Falfa Baptist Church with Carrol Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be in Old Town Cemetery, Tuskahoma, under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
David Eugene Taylor, 68, of Spiro died Tuesday, April 24, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 30, at Mallory-Martin Chapel under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Spiro.
A man accused of possessing child pornography appeared in District Court Thursday morning as proceedings continue.
Marty Hester, 52, of Hodgen, appeared before Special Judge Jeff Singer with his defense attorney Rob Cowan present. Hester, who was arrested in October, appeared for his preliminary hearing. After consulting with his attorney, Hester signed a waiver declining his rights to a preliminary hearing and was set for District Court Arraignment on May 30.
Once again, the Poteau Pirates soccer team is playoff bound. The 2012 Class 4A playoffs will begin at 7 p.m. tonight on the road against the Catoosa Indians.
For five Pirate seniors, this marks the stretch drive of their high school soccer careers.
â€śI really haven't thought about it that way,â€ť forward/midfielder Spencer Hall said. â€śI guess it's kind of sad, but it's motivating us to try to keep it going for as long as we can.â€ť
The 2012 Poteau High School Sports Hall of Fame inductees have been announced by the selection committee.
For football, the inductees are Jim Craig, Chris Odom, Michael Thompson, Ed Green, Bob Dorey, Leon Wyatt, Howard Florence, Nik McDaniel and Samuel Brown. McDaniel is the modern-era leader in numerous offensive categories â€” yards rushing (4,366), rushing average (7.5 yards per rush), all-purpose yards (5,814) and total points scored (370).
