OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma City Thunder had virtually nothing to play for against the Denver Nuggets in their last game (and home game) of the season Wednesday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena. After sitting his starters for the entire fourth quarter Tuesday night against the Sacramento Kings, Oklahoma City Coach Scott Brooks played them in the final quarter against Denver, but it didn’t matter as the Thunder fell to the Nuggets 106-101.
OKC got off to a slow start in the game while Denver got into a groove early, jumping out to a 23-14 lead midway through the first quarter.
MIDWEST CITY — The Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings closed out the regular softball season Tuesday afternoon by splitting a doubleheader against Rose State College.
The Lady Vikings run ruled the hosts in the opener 14-5 before losing 10-8 in the nightcap.
The Lady Vikings will not return to action until the Region II Tournament, which will be May 4-6 in Oklahoma City.
We went to Wolf Ridge Golf Course last Friday night for its famous “Friday Night Steak Dinner.” We sat down with Jose' and Heather Chavez, Brian and Suzanne Free, Keith and Robin Marquez, Alan and Stacey McDaniel and Steve and Regina Peck. You might say it looked like “Date Night.”
We all had a really great dinner, and that's when The Gabe Cunningham Band fired up. Man, he sang everything — Stone Temple Pilots, Lionel Richie, Prince, Alice in Chains and Johnny Cash. We broke out on “Ring of Fire,” and the crowd went nuts — and it was a now a party!

The Poteau Pirates baseball team could not have asked for a better way to enter the postseason than winning on Senior Day 10-2 over Spiro Monday afternoon at Town Creek Park.
Now, the three seniors — Blake Roley, Jake McMillin and Wilson Klutts — believe the Pirates are taking momentum into today's Class 4A District Tournament at Stilwell.
When Poteau Lady Pirate senior softball players Natalee King, Meagan Ryburn and Briley Benson were just sophomores, they made their first trip to the Class 6A Slow-Pitch State Tournament. By tonight, the terrific trio could end their high school careers with a third straight trip to state.
The Lady Pirates, who will face Broken Bow at 12:30 p.m. this afternoon at the Class 6A Regional Tournament in Muskogee, will make next week's state tournament as long as they do not lose twice today.
HEAVENER — Both Poteau Lady Pirates Coach Misty Collins and Heavener Lady Wolves Coach Rodale Sanders are hoping that the defensive miscues which happened in Tuesday afternoon's regional tune-up contest between their teams will not happen today in their respective regionals.
In a game which had 11 errors, seven of which were by Heavener, the Lady Pirates rallied in the seventh inning, then held on for a 11-10 victory.
SPIRO — A fast start enabled the Spiro Bulldogs to down the Panama Razorbacks 9-1 on Senior Day Tuesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs got things started with Slater Dunn's three-run home run for a 3-0 lead. Colton Gamble's two-RBI single later capped a five-run first inning for a 5-0 lead.
The ’Dogs then added a single run in the second inning and three more runs in the third for a 9-0 lead.
The lone run for the Razorbacks came in the fourth inning on Trey Byrd's one-out, RBI single.
The Poteau High School soccer teams garnered a split with Hilldale in Tuesday's homecoming games at Costner Stadium to end the regular season.
The Pirates blanked the Hornets 8-0, but the Lady Hornets stung the Lady Pirates 4-0.
WARNER — The Carl Albert State College baseball team run ruled the Connors State Cowboys 16-5 in seven innings in Tuesday night's scheduled nine-inning game.
The Vikings will return to action at 1 p.m. this afternoon when they entertain Northern Oklahoma College-Enid in a doubleheader at Ival Goodman Field.
