QUINTON — The Howe Lady Lions had a strong end to the regular season Monday afternoon when they banged out 23 hits in a 12-4 win over the Cameron Lady Yellowjackets. They just carried the offensive onslaught to Thursday's Class 3A District Tournament.
The Lady Lions run ruled the Canadian Lady Cougars 12-2, then beat the host Quinton Lady Savages twice — 13-4 and 13-9 — to win the district title, and qualify for next week's Class 3A Regional Tournament.
TAHLEQUAH — The good news for the Poteau Lady Pirates was that they were not run ruled by the Tahlequah Lady Tigers, as happened on March 27. But the bad news for them was they didn't score any runs as the Lady Tigers prevailed 9-0 on Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Pirates fell behind 3-0 after an inning, and never did recover.
Poteau had nine hits, but could never produce any runs.
PANAMA — It was not a good day if you were a LeFlore County slow-pitch softball team from a town beginning with the letter “P” at the Class 4A District Tournament Thursday.
The Pocola Lady Indians got beat by Silo twice, 12-1 and 13-1, as the Lady Rebels from down near Durant claimed the district championship.
Pocola was the only local team to win on the day as the Lady Indians beat their archrivals, the Panama Lady Razorbacks 12-9 in the first game of the day.
The Lady ’Backs then lost 9-7 to the Lady Rebels to be eliminated.
OAKS — The Arkoma Lady Mustangs went 1-2 in Thursday's Class 2A District Tournament, but it was not enough to keep their season alive.
After Arkoma beat host Oaks 10-8, the Lady Mustangs lost 15-6 to Welch and 9-2 to Oaks to see their season end at 3-8.
One bright spot on the day for the Lady Mustangs was Julia Anderson, who hit three home runs.
KEOTA — The Cameron Lady Yellowjackets' softball season came to an end at the Class 2A District Tournament Thursday afternoon. While the Lady ’Jackets beat Gans 10-4, the win was bookended by losses to Wetumka by scores of 12-4 and 8-7.
RED OAK — The season came to an end for the Leflore Lady Savages Thursday afternoon with a pair of losses in the Class A District Tournament.
Leflore lost 6-0 to Panola, then 22-0 to host Red Oak.
Editor's Note — The Bokoshe Lady Tigers did not play in the Class A District Tournament at McCurtain Thursday due to lack of players. They ended the season at 1-1.
BATTIEST — The 2012 slow-pitch softball season came to an end for the Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs Thursday afternoon in a pair of losses in the Class A District Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs fell 12-2 to Eagletown, then 15-5 to host Battiest to see their season end at 9-9.
McCURTAIN — The good news was the Bokoshe Tigers got to the championship game of the Class B District Tournament Thursday afternoon, but unfortunately that was where the good news ended.
The Tigers lost 16-3 to the host McCurtain Bulldogs in the championship to see their season end.
The day before, the Tigers were run ruled by the ’Dogs 27-1 after they had handled their LeFlore County rivals from Arkoma 22-12.
The Mustangs were the first team eliminated from the tournament on Wednesday when they lost 23-5 to the Bulldogs.
