Anna Mae Smedley, 48, of Howe died Friday, May 12, 2012, in Tulsa. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m.. Saturday, May 17, at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, with Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
Wendall L. Washington, 53, of Hodgen, died Saturday, May 12, 2012, in Poteau.
Wendall was born Sept. 18, 1958, in Lawton to Everett and Charlene Washington. A longtime area resident, he loved hunting and fishing and was a graduate of Heavener High School. He worked in the Parks Department for the City of Poteau. His father preceded him in death.
Elton Edward Thompson, 86, of Poteau died Saturday, May 12, 2012, in Poteau.
A Poteau girl famous for talking backwards is running straight ahead into the limelight.
Poteau High School freshman Alyssa Kramer became an internet sensation earlier this year when a video of her saying words backwards went “viral” on the video sharing website Youtube.
The video showcased Alyssa's special talent of being able to properly pronounce any common word backwards.
Since the initial upload of the video in July of 2011, Alyssa's video received more than three million views and caught the attention of television producers.
