Ruby Evelyn Sanders, 91, of Bates, Ark., died Sunday, May 20, 2012, in Bates. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at First Baptist Church in Bates. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home, Heavener.
Zaven Lynn Dmitri Johnson, infant son of Brandon and Samantha Jo Johnson, died Monday, May 21, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. Zaven was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Opal and Durrel Morgan, James and Myrtis Hammond, Joann Johnson and Howard McCollom.
AlmaâPeggyâ Wilson, 84, of Talihina died Friday, May 18, 2012, in Pocola. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 21, at the Talihina Nazarene Church. Burial will be in Whitesboro Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
Renner Maxine Pierce, 88, of Panama died Friday, May 18, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 21, at New Hope Cemetery, Spiro, under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
Eugene Allen Logan, 85 of Shady Point died Monday, May 21, 2012, in Poteau. Gene was born Jan. 10, 1927, in Wetumka to Kerb L. and Camie (Holton) Logan. Gene worked for Poteau food in the early part of his life and then was owner of Geneâs Food Market in Poteau during the 1960s and early â70s. He worked for Holtonâs Supermarket and retired. Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
SPIRO â One Spiro High School senior baseball player finally had his dream come true to make state. Now, Tyler Didway just had another one come true.
Didway signed with Carl Albert State College Monday morning inside Spiro High School Principal Kyle House's office.
âIt's taken a lot of weight off my shoulders,â Didway said. âNow, that I'm going to get to play somewhere, I can now relax. I'm just ready to go.â
Carl Albert was really the only place the Spiro graduate was looking to go.
The 2012 Poteau Cross Country Booster Club Running Camp will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday through Friday at Costner Stadium. Entry fee is $40 per camper. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 5 through 12.
Registration will also take place from 7:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
