The Eastern Oklahoma Riverdawgs Major American Legion baseball team will have tryouts at 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Cameron.
Players who are between the ages of 16 and 19 are eligible to try out. Players who are age 19 who try out cannot turn age 20 before Jan. 1, and all players must live within a 50-mile radius of Spiro.
For those who try out, there will be a fee to pay to play.

Robert â€śBobâ€ť Cooper, 46, of Spiro died Monday, May 7, 2012. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 11, in Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark.
OKLAHOMA CITY â€” Poteau Pirates Golf Coach Mike Thomas was hoping to get at least a sixth-place, or higher, team finish in the 2012 Class 4A State Tournament, which took place Monday and Tuesday at Lake Hefner North Golf Course. Unfortunately, his and the Pirates' wish did not come true.
The Pirates ended up 11th out of 12 teams in the field with a three-round team score of 948. After 36 holes on Monday, the Pirates were in 10th place with a 636, but had a team score of 312 on Tuesday â€” which was the best 18-hole performance of the tournament for the Pirates.
Dan Vincent of Muse died Friday, May 4, 2012, in Talihina. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at the Muse Cemetery with Alex Barron officiating, under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
Jimmy Don Scroggins, 66, of Shady Point died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at his home in Shady Point. Jimmy was born Nov. 7, 1945, in Oxnard, Calif., to Roy H and Ida Mae (Brookover) Scroggins.Â He was a heavy equipment operator.Â Jimmy was a Poteau High School graduate.Â He was a member of the Calhoun Baptist Church.Â Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Scroggins; and granddaughter, Summer VanMeter.Â He and Janice Monks were married Jan. 8, 1965.
Raymond â€śPopâ€ť Albertson Jr., 68, of Pocola died Sunday, May 6, 2012, at his home.Â He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Sr. and Cora Albertson.Â He was a mechanic.Â
Raymond was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.Â Raymond enjoyed racing at Tri-State Speedway and he especially enjoyed watching his sons race.Â Raymond was a man who cared deeply for family and friends.
Burl Damon Andrews, 90, of Poteau died Friday, May 4, 2012, in Talihina.Â Burl was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Booneville, Ark., to Charles Monroe and Pearl (Porter) Andrews.Â Burl was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.Â He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Poteau.Â Burl owned and operated Swiss Cleaners for some 40 years.Â He was a past member of Poteau Kiwanis Club and Poteau Rotary Club.Â He received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award.Â Burl coached American Legion Baseball, winning the State Championship in 1967.Â He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife, Lavonne, in June 2000.
