Jesse Paul Ward, 26, of Poteau died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, in Poteau.Â Jesse was born Feb. 16, 1986, in Edison, N.J. to Terry and Beth (Faulks) Ward.Â Jesse was a stay-at-home dad.Â Jesse was preceded in death by his brother, John Ward.Â Jesse built a â€™86 Ram Charger 4x4.Â He liked the outdoors, fishing and camping.Â He was the best dad in the world.

The Lady Vikings will meet the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Lady Norse at 1 p.m. this afternoon in the opening round of the Region II Tournament at Oklahoma City's Hall of Fame Stadium.

The LeFlore County Bass Club had its latest tournament of the 2012 circuit Sunday at Potato Hills South on Sardis Lake.
There were 28 boats which had 54 anglers who caught a combined 58 fish with a collective weight of 153.11 pounds. The average fish caught weighed 2.64 pounds, with seven limits caught.
Besting the field of fishermen was the duo of â€śBig Bassâ€ť Bob Denton and Jason Roberts, who caught a total of 21.53 pounds of fish to earn $675.
Bucky McGee and Randy Martin were runners-up (14.98 pounds, $400), while Jason Wickware and Jody Adams came in third (13.89, $270).
OKLAHOMA CITY â€” There's no feeling like leading from start to finish. Just ask the Poteau Lady Pirates golf team.
The Lady Pirates pretty much led all 36 holes as they won the Class 4A State Tournament Thursday afternoon at Lake Hefner South Golf Course.
The Lady Pirates finished with a team score of 364 after a first-day score of 356 to end the 36-hole event with a 720, which was 21 shots better than state runner-up Anadarko (741).

Elizabeth â€śBettyâ€ť (Korby) Peterson, 62, of Spiro died Tuesday, May 1, 2012. Services are planned at a later date in June under the direction off Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Spiro.
OOLOGAH â€” The farther the Poteau Pirates made it into the Class 4A State Soccer Playoffs, the teams were going to be tougher â€” and scoring was going to be a lot tougher than in previous games. That was so true in Tuesday night's second-round playoff game.
Oologah scored at the 17-minute mark of the first half and had a 1-0 lead at intermission. The Pirates came out in the second half and scored two early goals â€”- then played strong defense the rest of the way to win the game 2-1.
HEAVENER â€” It didn't take one long to notice that there could be a Class 4A state soccer quarterfinal contest involving both LeFlore County teams. It's going to happen Friday night.
The Heavener Wolves kept their perfect record intact as they won their first playoff game of the 2012 Class 4A playoffs as they shut out Riverfield Country Day School from out of Tulsa by a score of 3-0 Tuesday night at Harvey Stadium.
