Dorothy Maxine Jones, 76, of Brushy Mountain died Friday, June 22, 2012. Graveside services will held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 25, at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Spiro.

Christopher Kenyon Simpson, 26, of Fort Coffee, was arrested Thursday evening by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation in connection with the double murder of Ka'Loni Flynn and her unborn child.
Investigator Shawn Ward, OSBI, Investigator Travis Saulsbery, LeFlore County District Attorney's Office and members of the LeFlore County Sheriff's Department arrested Simpson at his home without incident.
Thursday night's home game for the Eastern Oklahoma Riverdawgs Major American Legion baseball team against Okmulgee at Poteau High School's Town Creek Park was canceled due to Okmulgee lacking enough players for the game — as well as the possibility of Thursday night rain.
Coach Dave Oliver said the Okmulgee game will try to be rescheduled for July 10, but no date has been set as of this time.
The 15th annual Poteau Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Monday at Wolf Ridge Golf Course.
Lunch and check-in will begin at noon Monday.
The entry fee is $65 per person or $130 per two-player team. Two mulligans will be available for $10, with a limit of four per team.
