FORT SMITH, Ark. — For University of Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long, things could not be better as far as the athletic programs at the Fayetteville institution are concerned.
First off, I hope that all of you have had a happy and safe summer break. I've enjoyed the more relaxed stretch of the year when I don't have to worry about high school and Carl Albert State College athletics. There was just enough Legion baseball, camps and golf tournaments to keep me out of trouble.
However, I now have to get back to reality, which is the 2012-13 athletic season is just around the corner. In fact, I'm actually going to start getting ready for it next week.
Carl Albert State College Lady Viking Whitney Barnes, a 5-3 sophomore shooting guard from Indianola, has signed an NCAA Division II letter of intent with Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo., for the 2012-13 season.
Rockhurst is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
During the 2011-12 season, Whitney averaged 16.4 points per game, which ranked 48th in the NJCAA, a team high 5.6 rebounds per game, 2.9 assists per game and 1.8 steals a game.
Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings Basketball Coach Jeff Tadtman would like to announce his second group of recruits for the 2012-13 class.
Bernice Satterwhite, is a 5-7 point guard from Cincinnati.
Bernice will be a double threat at point guard, because she can score as well as getting her teammates involved.
Cree Conner is a 5-10 redshirt sophomore from Grand Prairie, Texas. Conner will provide the Lady Vikings with a blue collar player, which is a must for a successful season.
