Whitesboro boys win own baseball tournament

WHITESBORO — It was a good day to be a Whitesboro Bulldog on Saturday. The Bulldogs won their own tournament, the Whitesboro Tournament, with a 10-0 run-rule victory over the Panola Bearcats in the title game. The ’Dogs reached the title game with a 10-2 run-rule win over the Eagletown Eagles on Friday night.

Wister boys fall to Red Oak in CASC Classic title game; Cameron claims consolation championship with victory over Crowder Demons

The Red Oak Eagles went through the 17th Carl Albert State College Fall Baseball Classic unscathed as they defeated the Wister Wildcats 8-1 in Saturday afternoon's title game at CASC's Ival Goodman Field.
The Eagles and Wildcats each won their championship semifinals on Friday in Wister. Red Oak blanked Smithville 14-0, while Wister edged McCurtain 4-3.
The Cameron Yellowjackets claimed the consolation championship with an 8-1 victory over the Crowder Demons to begin action Saturday at Ival Goodman Field.

Leflore pitcher tosses second no-hitter of Calvin Tournament as Savages capture consolation championship over Mill Creek

CALVIN — Garrett Singleterry did his part to make sure not only did his Leflore Savages avenge Thursday night's loss to the Mill Creek Bullfrogs, but that his team took home some hardware.
The Leflore junior threw his second no-hitter of the Calvin Tournament on Saturday as the Savages blanked the ’Frogs 5-0 in the consolation championship contest.

Panama girls go undefeated at Hall of Fame Shootout

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Panama Lady Razorbacks swept through the Hall of Fame Shootout at Hall of Fame Stadium on Friday and Saturday, defeating Harrah 4-3, Dale 5-2 and El Reno 4-0.

WISTER — The Wister Lady Wildcats ended their week Friday afternoon with a Green Valley Conference doubleheader sweep of the Cameron Lady Yellowjackets by scores of 16-8 and 9-0.
Westville 10, Heavener 3: In Heavener, trailing 1-0 after an inning, the Lady Yellowjackets scored twice in the second inning and twice more in the third inning for a 4-1 lead. Then, they put the game away with a two-run sixth inning and a four-run seventh.
Buffalo Valley 11, Howe 1: In Howe, the Lady Buffaloes jumped out to a 3-0 lead after an inning, which ballooned to 8-0 in the second inning.

Late score lifts Heavener past Pocola in Friday night's scrimmage

HEAVENER — One of the biggest things Rick Lang, Pocola High School's football coach, wanted to change from what happened to his Indians near the end of the season was finishing games. Lang believed that didn't happen in three of his team's final four games. Unfortunately for Lang and the Indians, it happened again Friday night at Harvey Stadium.
Heavener's Blake Smittle scored on about an 18-yard touchdown run with 38 seconds left in the second 12-minute period as the Wolves rallied to down the Indians 28-24 in the final preseason scrimmage for both teams.

Seniors have bright moments for Arkoma in home scrimmage against Gans Grizzlies on Friday

ARKOMA — The Arkoma Mustangs entertained the Gans Grizzlies in a preseason scrimmage Friday night at Mustang Field for the final tune-up for the 2012 football season.
In Gans' first series of 10 plays for both teams, Arkoma senior Matthew Shafer recovered a fumble on the Grizzlies eighth play. He also tallied 23 yards rushing in just four attempts for the Mustangs.

Defensive stalemate at Panama three-way scrimmage Friday night

PANAMA — The Panama Razorbacks had a triangular football scrimmage against the Canadian Cougars and the Sallisaw-Central Tigers Friday night at George Ollie Stadium. Only two touchdowns were scored in the entire scrimmage.

Spiro Bulldogs show improvement in Stilwell scrimmage Friday night

STILWELL — In the eyes of Chris Bunch, Spiro High School's veteran football coach, his Bulldogs made improvement in Friday night's scrimmage against the Stilwell Indians from their first scrimmage the week before at Tulsa Webster along with Okmulgee.
“I think we improved from last week at Tulsa Webster,” Bunch said. “We looked a lot better, but we still have a ways to go — but we did improve.”

Vian handles Talihina in final football scrimmage of preseason

VIAN — The Talihina Golden Tigers traveled to Vian for their final preseason football scrimmage of the season, and came away one positive. They don't have to play the Wolverines in the district anymore.
The Wolverines returned a senior-dominated team of 40 players from last year's team which lost to eventual Class 2A state champion Hennessey in the state quarterfinals. Five of those seniors are being looked at by Division I colleges, and the Wolverines have a talented group of juniors and sophomores to go with them.
