Public Trust to hold special meeting

The LeFlore County Detention Center Public Trust has scheduled a special meeting Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the LeFlore County Commissioners meeting room to discuss purchasing stun guns for detention officers.
According to Claud Jones, LCDC administrator, several of the detention officers are certified to carry stun guns and he is hoping to get the trust's approval to purchase up to four stun guns.
Other items on the agenda for discussion are personnel issues involving new employees.

Trail of Tears motorcycle ride coming to Heavener

September 3, 2012

The 19th annual Trail of Tears Motorcycle Ride is schedule to stop in Heavener on Sept. 17.
More than 150 riders are expected to arrive in Heavener at 11:30 a.m. for lunch then continue the ride through Wister, Fanshawe and Red Oak on their way to the Seminole National Museum in Wewoka.
The ride is billed as the largest organized motorcycle run in history spanning multiple states and a total of 25,000 motorcyclist in the three day ride.
