Heavener Wolves in playoff mode tonight against Stigler

October 25, 2013

Although the high school football playoffs don't begin until Nov. 15, they might as well begin tonight for the Heavener Wovles.
The Wolves (2-4 overall, 1-3 in District 3A-8 play) are in a must-win situation tonight when they entertain the Stigler Panthers (5-2, 3-1) at 7:30 p.m. at Harvey Stadium. If the Wolves want to keep their playoff hopes alive, a win tonight is needed.

Pocola needs a win tonight as Indians travel to Antlers

October 25, 2013

Their backs aren't against the wall, but the Pocola Indians football team is sure in its shadows.
The Indians (2-5, 1-3 in District 2A-6) are almost in a must-win situation tonight when they hit the road to face the Antlers Bearcats (3-4, 1-3) at 7:30 p.m.
“It's a must win for us,” Pocola coach Rick Lang said. “We're technically not out of it if we lose, but if we win we still control our own destiny to make the playoffs. If we lose, things are out of our control. We want to end on a good note. We want to go 5-5 and go to the playoffs. That's what they're shooting for.”

It was a busy weekend for me

October 25, 2013

On Oct. 17, the Adams family went to the Poteau Pirates' home District 4A-4 football game at Costner Stadium against the Tulsa Cascia Hall Commandos — and that was just the start of my busy weekend.
Last Friday morning, I'm up by 5 a.m., hauling dirt bikes and 50 pounds of Okie burgers to Balloon Fest at the LeFlore County Fairgrounds.
