For the first time in four seasons, there's going to be an 11th game for the Poteau Pirates football team.
The Pirates (9-1) will entertain the Cleveland Tigers (5-5) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Costner Stadium.
The Pirates sealed up a home playoff game in last week's 44-14 road win over the Tulsa Rogers Ropers at S.E. Williams Stadium in Tulsa.
SPIRO â All the Spiro Bulldogs had to do last week was beat the Checotah Wildcats on their own Ogle Field grass, and the âDogs would have had a nine-game winning streak â and be the District 3A-8 champions. None of that happened as the âCats won 43-28, and knocked the Bulldogs into the No. 3 seed â and a road playoff game at 7:30 tonight against the Hilldale Hornets in Muskogee.
I moved to Poteau on Veterans Day in 1977. The first thing I did was eat an âArlieâ burger from the A&M Food Market. I loved them, and I was hooked on them for life.
