Tommy Joe Vaughn, 44, of Wister died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, in Wister. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Ellis Chapel Church, Wister, under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
Doris Lorine Morgan, 71, of Spiro died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, in the Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro.
Pamela Sue Latta, 50, of Poteau died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, in Poteau. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Evans Chapel of Memories, under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
Helen Davis, 94, of Heavener died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2013, in Van Buren, Ark.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at United Methodist Church in Howe. Burial will be in Howe Cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home.
Lonnie Gene Knight, 81, of Leflore died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, in Tulsa.
Lonnie was born Feb. 25, 1931, in Leflore to Thomas Lee and Velma (Kitchens) Knight. He was a builder of semi-trailers. Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Vera Sharp.Â

Behind Ericka Edwards’ 19 second-half points, the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings shocked the 19th-ranked Redlands Community College Lady Cougars 69-62 Thursday night at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.
The 17-point outings by Redlands players Jared Griffin and Quienton Paras proved to be the difference for the Cougars in their 73-64 win over the Vikings.
The CASC teams will return to action Monday night with road games against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami. The women’s game will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s contest at 8 p.m.
The Whitesboro High School basketball teams both opened the 2013 Rock Island Conference Shootout with wins, but one of them was a nailbiter.
In a battle of Bulldogs on Thursday in Kinta, Whitesboro handled Clayton 64-39. However, the Lady Bulldogs had to go double overtime to defeat Buffalo Valley 44-38 Thursday in Buffalo Valley.
Both Whitesboro teams made it to the semifinals at their respective sites on Friday. The ’Dogs played the host Eagles in Kinta, while the Lady Bulldogs faced Red Oak in Buffalo Valley.
