In 2005, Danny “The Doctor of” Love and Joe Gregory invited me to come to The Downtown Cafe in Heavener to have coffee with them at 5 a.m. I went and sat at a big, round table with Raymond “The Mayor of Hodgen” Ellis, Dick Roberts, Donnie “Killer” Killion, Joey Yandell, Lonnie “Lonzo” Renick and George “The Senior Statesman” Bailey.
Now, I was the youngest, and I talked way to much for the older Mr. Bailey. I also accidentally parked in his spot, and sat in his chair. I was quickly asked to move or he would do it for me.

A career-high 21 points from Myeisha Williams wasn't enough for the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings in their 72-64 loss to the Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa Lady Mavericks in the first game of Tuesday night's doubleheader at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.
A strong 40-18 second half proved to be the difference for the 12th-ranked NOC-Tonkawa Mavericks in their 68-38 win over the Carl Albert State College Vikings in the second game.
The buggy drawing that took place a couple of weeks ago at Wister was a huge success. I did not get my hands on all the winners' names, but I do know that Brad McMillin won a gun from J.R.’s Pawn and Gun.
We also gave away a couple of guns provided by Wister Pawn and Gun and Poteau Pawn and Gun. I really appreciate all the people who made this possible for all the kids at Wister who will be helped by this fundraiser.
