Every year about this time, I find that I can’t concentrate on much of anything other than the weather — hoping for cooler temps. It is less than a month until the opening of bow season, and that means I will be sitting for hours in a tree stand enjoying the quiet fall woods.

Attention all crappie fisherman. Crappie USA will have a tournament Sept. 21 at Wister Lake. Pre-registration is preferred, and can be done by one of the members of the two-man team by going online to www.crappie.com.
The cost is $30 per angler.
According to the guys down at Tote-A-Poke Coffee Club, Jerry Beale is the favorite, but I think the winner will be Robbie Brassfield from Bokoshe. However, we can't forget about “Uncle” Clay Bennett. He's always on the water crappie fishing at Wister Lake.
