December 3, 2013

After one of the greatest wins in Poteau Pirates football history, I was surprised at all of the negativity that came from the game. You need to read the story about Saturday's Class 4A state semifinal contest between the Pirates and the Oklahoma City Douglass Trojans in the Sunday edition of The Oklahoman, and then read the comments at the end of the story.
The Douglass coach called we Poteau fans, “Rednecks.”

CASC women split games at Wells Fargo Classic; Lady Vikings upset 17th-ranked Arizona Western, welcome NEO Lady Norse to town tonight

December 3, 2013

Getting defensive stops and making free throws late in the game were both keys for the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings in their 51-50 win over host  Arizona Western, which was ranked 17th in the nation, in the second and final day of the Wells Fargo Classic on Saturday.
The Lady Vikings' inability to make plays down the stretch proved to be the difference for Cochise College in its 72-64 win over the Lady Vikings on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Vikings will return to action tonight as they will entertain Northeastern Oklahoma A&M at 6 p.m. at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.

Behind 52.9-percent shooting from the field and a 57-29 second half, Midland, Texas, powered past the Vikings 97-56 in the first game of the Classic on Friday night.
