Despite rainy conditions Friday afternoon and early evening, Poteau's three-game festival got to take place at Town Creek Park. Unfortunately, the day and evening were not good for the home team.
The Wister Wildcats got a run in the seventh inning to rally for a 5-4 win over the Pirates, who lost the first game of the day to the Jay Bulldogs by the score of 9-4.
The middle game also went to the Wildcats as Wister pitcher and Seminole State College signee Tyler Gibson struck out 14 Jay batters as the â€™Cats beat the â€™Dogs 8-2.
The good news was the Carl Albert State College Vikings baseball team beat Friday's rain to get its home doubleheader played against Rose State College at Ival Goodman Field. Unfortunately, the weather was the only thing the Vikings were able to beat as the Raiders swept Friday afternoon's twinbill by scores of 6-3 and 9-0.
Carl Albert's single, nine-inning game against Connors State College at Ival Goodman Field was rained out, and it has been rescheduled for 3 p.m. April 22. Also, CASC has rescheduled the road doubleheader against Arkansas Baptist for 3 p.m. next Tuesday in Little Rock.

A Panama man is dead, and his son is behind bars in connection with the slaying.
Arlen Buck Lockaby, 87, of Panama was found dead at his home on Williams Road on Friday evening after a family member went to check on him, according to LeFlore County Sheriff Rob Seale.
Seale said Lockaby's son, Tim Lockaby, 51, was at the home when deputies arrived.
STILWELL â€” The Heavener Wolves soccer team reached Fridayâ€™s title game in the Stilwell Tournament with a pair of wins on Thursday, beating Collinsville 2-1 in a shoot out and defeating Hilldale 3-1.
The Wolves played Tahlequah late Friday for the title.
Heavenerâ€™s girls suffered three losses over two days to be eliminated from the tournament.
The Lady Wolves, who were undermanned due to injury and a player gone for a family matter, lost 2-0 to Collinsville on Thursday, then lost 3-0 to Hilldale and 1-0 to Porter Consolidated on Friday.
WILBURTON â€” The Poteau Lady Pirates track team made it 2-for-2 in meets this season as they won the Wilburton Invitational on Thursday. Poteau had 147 points, with Vian a distant second (104 points).
The Poteau Invitational will begin at approximately 1 p.m. Tuesday at Costner Stadium.

MIAMI, Okla. â€” The Carl Albert State College softball team dropped two games Thursday afternoon to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, 12-0 and 5-0.
CASC will face Seminole State in Shawnee in a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Tuesday.
It makes no difference the level of baseball, a pitcher gets a thrill when throwing a perfect game. Just ask Spencer Wells.
Wells, who pitches for the Poteau Rebels OK Kids baseball team, did just that, throwing a perfect five-inning game as the Rebels defeated the Spiro Muddawgs 5-0 in the title game of the 2013 OK Kids Preseason Tournament on Thursday night at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex.
Wells faced the minimum 15 batters in five innings with 11 strikeouts.
