BROKEN BOW — Two Poteau junior high golfers placed in Monday’s Haworth Invitational, which took place at Cedar Creek Golf Course.
Ryan Ward won the tournament with an 88 in his final tournament of the spring.
In four tournaments, Ward won three of them, and placed fifth in the other one.
Bryson Terry placed fifth with a 93, while Jeremiah Loggains shot a 107.
A Panama man accused of beating his father to death has been charged with first-degree murder by the LeFlore County District Attorney's Office.
On Monday, a charge was filed against Timothy Rue Lockaby, accusing him of hanging and beating his 77-year-old father, Arlen Buck Lockaby, until he was dead.

Talihina 9, Kiowa 3: In Talihina, the Golden Tigers, who trailed 2-0 after an inning, scored three runs in the first inning, a run in the second inning, four runs in the third inning and a run in the fourth inning for a 9-2 lead.
HEAVENER — In February, Heavener High School football players Blake Smittle and Aaron Turner signed to play with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. Tuesday morning in a ceremony inside the high school gym, a third HHS senior signed to play college ball.
Basketball senior Trevor Smith signed his letter of intent with the Carl Albert State College Vikings.

The Poteau Lady Pirates and the Pocola Lady Indians were seeded No. 1 and 2, respectively, in last month’s seeding meeting. Going into Tuesday night’s title game, the seeding held true.
The Lady Pirates and the Lady Indians played in late Tuesday afternoon’s winner’s bracket final at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex to see who played for the county title later that night.
The Lady Pirates handled Howe 14-0, then beat Heavener 4-0 on Day 1 on Monday at the PARC to make it to within two wins of another county slow-pitch title.
