VIAN — The Poteau Pirates had a six-run lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning, and pulled out a 9-6 victory over the Vian Wolverines on Thursday afternoon.
CAMERON — A seventh-inning run broke a 1-all tie to enable the Cameron Yellowjackets to edge the Panama Razorbacks 2-1 Thursday afternoon.
Tied at 1 in the seventh inning, a Panama error allowed Brennan Barclay to score from third base to give the Yellowjackets the victory.
A suicide-squeeze bunt by Drew Hopson scored Trey Byrd from third base to give the Razorbacks a 1-0 lead.
A Panama error allowed Blaise Lomon to score Cameron's first run in the third inning to tie the game at 1.
Three Panama Razorbacks will participate in the Class 2A State Powerlifting Meet, which will take place today in McLoud. The lucky trio will be Gabe Harp at 168 pounds, Ryan Farrar and Bobby Lotchleas at heavyweight.

LeFlore County Demcrats and Republicans will hold grass roots organizationsl meetings next week
The LeFlore County Democratic Party will hold precinct meetings at 7 p.m. Thursday. Precinct meetings will be held at voting places in which each person votes.

County Republicans will hold their annual precinct meeting and county convention at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at Western Sizzlin in Poteau.
Business will include election of precinct officials, convention delegates and officers.
Friday afternoon's home doubleheader against the Arkansas Baptist Buffaloes at Ival Goodman Field started on the right foot for the homestanding Carl Albert State Vikings baseball team, but finished on a down note for the locals.
The Vikings took the opener from the Buffs 9-0, but the visitors from Little Rock claimed an 8-1 victory in the nightcap.

SHAWNEE — Getting 18 points from Norman's D. Brown in her final game as a Lady Viking wasn't enough as the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings came up short in their 63-56 loss to the Murray State College Lady Aggies in the Region II Tournament quarterfinals Thursday afternoon at Oklahoma Baptist University's Noble Complex.
The Lady Vikings loss to Murray State ends the 2012-13 season for the Lady Vikings at 12-17.
Carl Albert State College Lady Viking D. Brown, a 5-3 sophomore shooting guard from Norman, has been named to the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Third Team.
Adrion Webber, a 6-5 sophomore shooting guard from Muskogee, has named to the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Third Team.
The Poteau Lady Pirates got to play on their new-look softball field for the first time this spring, and they didn't disappoint their fans Thursday afternoon.
Taking advantage of five Wister errors, the Lady Pirates were able to blank the Lady Wildcats 12-0 in a four-inning, run-rule victory.
