The Poteau Chamber of Commerce is expected to move into the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center in the next few months, according to chamber Executive Director Karen Wages.

Finally, opening night is here for the Poteau Pirates football team, which will begin the 2013 season at 7:30 tonight against the Durant Lions at Costner Stadium.
“If you're a football player or a coach, you're always excited about game No. 1,” Poteau second-year coach Greg Werner said. “A lot of work goes into game No. 1. A pair of rich traditional football powers will meet tonight when the Vian Wolverines travel to meet the Spiro Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. at McClain Stadium.
Last year, the Wolverines handled the ’Dogs, but Spiro coach Chris Bunch hopes his team is better prepared tonight.
“They're still good,” he said. “Hopefully, we're better. I didn't think we were ready to play them last year. We just didn't get prepared for them. I think that was the difference last year. I think if we're prepared for them, and get lined up in the right spots, things will be better for us than they were last year.”
