Henry Lee Creech Jr., 63 of Colcord died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at his home. Henry was born Dec. 18, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a retired chief of police and a retired U.S. Army solider. Henry is survived by his wife, Barbara Creech, and children Kim Hanson, Kim Creech, Suzanne Anderson, Joyce Creech, Teresa Harnage, Jennifer McDaniel, Roberta Alldis and Damian Creech. He also has 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Henry will missed by the community he served well as mayor.
Mary Helen Jobe Anderson, 92, of Poteau died July 16, 2013. She was born on Sept. 29, 1920, in Covington, Tenn., to John Samuel and Lucille Campbell Jobe, the third of six children.
Luellen Overstreet, 101, of Spiro died Friday, July 26, 2013. Graveside services were held Monday, July 29, at Spiro City Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Louise M. White, 82, of Fort Smith, Ark., died Sunday, July 28, 2013, in Fort Smith.

One week after a county commissioner meeting in which residents along 206th Street near Spiro sought to have their road proclaimed private, the commissioners announced today [July 30] they would hold a public hearing regarding the matter.
On Monday the commissioners approved holding a public meeting for input on the pending closure of the road.
On July 22, several residents spoke during the commissioner meeting about traffic along their road, which they believed was private. Commissioner Derwin Gist requested the Sheriff's Department remove the signs.
Ebony Dugan is the 2013 LeFlore County OK Home and Community Education Scholarship recipient. Dugan is a graduate of Spiro High School and plans to attend college at the University of Central Oklahomain in Edmond, majoring in special education/ deaf education.

For six local graduating senior athletes, they will get one more chance to compete at the prep level next week as they, along with two local coaches, will participate in the 2013 Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Games that will take place in the Tulsa metropolitan area.
The first sport up will be the All-State Golf Tournament, which will begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Cherokee Hills Golf Club in Catoosa.
The "Hooked on Fishin'" show with Mark Goines this weekend will broadcast a replay of this year's "Hooked on Fishin'" Kids Fishing Tournament.
The show will broadcast at 8 a.m. Sunday on KXNW Channel 34. It will also air at noon today on KFSM Channel 5.

The Wolf Pups Football sign-ups will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday inside the Heavener High School cafeteria.
The program is for third- through sixth-grade individuals.
Cost is $60 per player, and a copy of the player's birth certificate is required.
The fee will cover all equipment and insurance for each player.
