School is just around the corner. For the last several years, Wister Schools has participated in the Archery in the Schools Program. Last year, coach John McAlester got to expand that to include a class that included hunter education and explore bowhunting along with Fishing in the Schools.
This year, Wister has been chosen as a pilot school for the new scholastic shooting sports program. These are really neat programs that the kids love and John loves to teach.
Have a great week!

There will be many spirit items for sale at various booths.
Mike Trout, v. 2013, is even better than the 2012 model.
Trout, who's aunt and uncle are Sandra and Charles Busonick [Charles works for the City of Poteau Water Department], turned 22 just last week. Before that birthday (on which, naturally, he hit a home run), Trout had, according to FanGraphs.com, accumulated more weighted runs created (162) than any other player in history through his age-21 season. Trout's name topped that particular list ahead of Jimmie Foxx (161), Ted Williams (158), Rogers Hornsby (150), Ty Cobb (148), Mel Ott (146) and Mickey Mantle (143), among other luminaries.

A full tactical response of the on-duty Poteau police force for a possible bank robbery Wednesday afternoon was a false alarm, according to Poteau chief of police Stephen Fruen.
An alarm at the First National Bank at the Ben Klutts Drive and North Broadway intersection was activated about 3:30 p.m. Police surrounded the building, only to learn the bank had been testing the alarm system after a recent storm, said Fruen.
