Poteau wrestlers fall to Wagoner, Sallisaw at District Duals, fail to make dual state tourney

January 18, 2014

SALLISAW — The Poteau Pirates wrestling team had a shot when the Class 4A District Duals began Thursday afternoon to make it to next month's dual state tournament. It didn't work out that way as the Pirates lost 51-12 to sixth-ranked Wagoner and then fell 43-34 to the host Black Diamonds. Poteau's 61-18 win over Stilwell in Monday night's homecoming dual was the only district duals victory the Pirates (8-7) got. Wagoner's 36-35 win over third-ranked Sallisaw sealed the deal for the Bulldogs.
