Postage fee increase begins Monday

The cost of correspondence is again on the rise after the United States Postal Service announced a 3-cent hike on the price of stamps.
According to the Postal Service, on Monday the price of first-class mail stamps will increase from 46 cents to 49 cents.
Forever stamps will remain a viable postage at their original purchase price and will be accepted as the only necessary form of postage for first-class mail weighing 3 ounces or less, according to the service's website.

Panama softball player signs with CASC

PANAMA — Carl Albert State College softball coach David Holt signed his second LeFlore County softball player in as many days when he signed Panama senior Stephanie Barcheers to a letter of intent Thursday morning in a signing ceremony inside the Panama Gym. Holt signed Poteau pitcher RaeLynn Caldwell less than 24 hours before on Wednesday afternoon.

I had a barbecue cookout Saturday for my brother, Tim Gifford's, 46th birthday. Kevin Hill and I decided since we were going to cook, that we'd have a contest to see who made the best barbecue brisket.

TALIHINA — Three teams earned the right to play for Friday's fifth-place plaque at the 82nd LeFlore County Tournament.
The Heavener Wolves and the Pocola Indians will play at 6 p.m. Friday for fifth place on Chris Gillespie Court at Ray Henson Gymnasium. The Wolves beat the Whitesboro Bulldogs 42-35, while the Indians got a come-from-behind win over the Leflore Savages 59-48 here Wednesday night.

The Heavener Lady Wolves will have a shot at being a trophy team in the 82nd LeFlore County Tournament in Friday's fifth-place game on Chris Gillespie Court at Ray Henson Gymnasium.
The Lady Wolves beat the Bokoshe Lady Tigers 51-40 Wednesday night at Carl Albert State College's Mick Thompson Fieldhouse to earn a shot at fifth place at 4:40 p.m. Friday in Talihina against Arkoma.
