Basketball tournaments coming up next month

There will be three basketball tournaments coming up in LeFlore County.
There will be a tournament Feb. 8-9 in Wister. The entry fee is $100 per team with a three-game guarantee. For additional information, call George Midgley at (918) 647-7928.
There will be a tournament Feb. 15-16 in Wister. The entry fee for the double-elimination event is $125. For additional information, call Deedra McMillin at (918) 649-4130.
Panama will have a tournament Feb. 22-23. The entry fee is $100 with a three-game guarantee. For additional information, call Wes Tackett at (918) 839-5828.

Fire danger extremely high

According to LeFlore County Emergency Management, "Fire danger for today [Thursday] is extremely high. LeFlore County is under a burn ban. All outdoor burning is prohibited."
Emergency Management Director Michael Davidson warned anyone caught burning faces up to a $500 fine and the possibility of one year in jail.
Davidson said violators cam also be found responsible for any costs involved with fire extinguishment and restitution for any damages to property.

ROLAND — On Saturday night, the Spiro Bulldogs beat the Howe Lions in a battle of unbeatens to three-peat as LeFlore County Tournament champions. The next time the ’Dogs hit the court, their unbeaten streak came to an end.
The Roland Rangers used a fourth-quarter comeback to tie the game at 52 to force overtime, then outscored the Bulldogs 11-4 to complete the come-from-behind victory in a 63-56 win.
The Bulldogs led 17-10 after a period, but saw its lead cut to a single point at 30-29 at halftime.

ARKOMA — It took a half, but the Arkoma Lady Mustangs got the Bokoshe Lady Tigers corraled for a 71-42 victory Tuesday night at the Arkoma Gym.
Leading 34-28 at halftime, the Lady Mustangs outscored the Lady Tigers 16-4 in the third quarter to take a 50-32 lead into the final period.
Arkoma will have four games in the next five days, entertaining Porum tonight and Keota Friday night, then visiting Keota on Monday and Panama on Tuesday.
Howe 59, Cameron 27: In Howe, the Lady Lions jumped out to a 10-4 lead after one period en route to a 30-6 halftime advantage.

Three Talihina wrestlers place at Paul Post Tournament

SALLISAW — Three Talihina Golden Tigers wrestlers placed at this past weekend's Paul Post Tournament.
Jacob Balzanna (132 pounds), Domnick Shedd (195) and Caleb Blue (heavyweight) were all fifth-place finishers.
The Golden Tigers will wrestle at the Maverick Conference Tournament, which will be Friday and Saturday in Wagoner. Matches will begin at noon Friday.
