Carl Albert basketball teams split games against Western in Altus; CASC cagers will end home regular season Thursday night against Connors State Cowboys

Great defensive pressure in the second half was the key as the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings forced the Western Oklahoma State College Lady Pioneers into 30 turnovers in their impressive 70-53 road win Friday night in Altus.
Getting 21 points from Stirling Thomas and 53.6 percent shooting from the field proved to be the difference for the Pioneers in their 80-56 win over the Vikings in Friday's second game of Friday's doubleheader.

Monroe boys state runners-up after losing title game; Hodgen girls lose in state semifinals

SHAWNEE — The Monroe Eagles basketball team became LeFlore County's second state runners-up this school year.
The Eagles lost 36-21 to Stilwell's Rocky Mountain School in the state title game of the Organization of Rural Elementary Schools [ORES] Division III State Tournament on Saturday afternoon in Shawnee.
The Eagles, who won the 2014 LeFlore County Junior High Tournament last month, reached the finals with a 56-48 victory over El Reno Darlington on Friday night.
Two Eagles made the All-Tournament Team, Reid Frasher and Kolton Foster.

Wister students give gift of life

Eric Rose, 17, Wister High School student donated blood during today's [Tuesday, Feb. 25] OBI blood drive. There is still time to donate. The drive ends at 5:30 p.m.

National Wild Turkey Federation hosts annual banquet

The banquet will be held at Poteau High School on March 6.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Whitesboro Baptist Church with Brother Mark Cook officiating. Burial will be in Whitesboro Cemetery under the direction of Burkhart Funeral Service.

Services will be held at noon Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Unite Church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the U.S. National Cemetery at Fort Smith, Ark. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Spiro.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Latter Day Saints Church in Poteau. Burial will be in Dog Creek Cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home.

Arkoma boys win consolation title; Lady Mustangs fall in finals to Kiowa

KIOWA — The Arkoma Mustangs won the Class A Regional Tournament consolation championship with a 53-41 victory over the Clayton Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs reached the consolation finals with a 55-52 overtime win over the Dewar Dragons in the consolation semifinals Friday afternoon.
