ARKOMA — For several members of the Arkoma Lady Mustangs basketball team, what they are about to do tonight has been a lifelong aspiration for them — get to play at “The Big House,” Oklahoma City's State Fair Arena. The Lady Mustangs will get that chance Thursday night when they meet Frontier in the Class A State Tourament quarterfinals at 8:30 p.m.
The Lady Mustangs got there with a 65-51 victory over the Kiowa Cowgirls in the Class A Area Tournament consolation finals Saturday night at Southeastern Oklahoma State University's Bloomer Sullivan Fieldhouse in Durant.
Getting 21 points from Breonna Johnson and 19 points each from former Fort Smith (Ark.) Northside Lady Bears Bria Caldwell and Kilah Cummings proved to be the difference for the sixth-seeded Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings in their 96-80 win over the 11th-seeded Arkansas Baptist in a NJCAA Region II Tournament play-in game Tuesday night at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.
Getting 18 points from Katrell Henry in his last game as a Carl Albert State College player wasn't enough for the Vikings in their 70-62 loss to the Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa Mavericks in a NJCAA Region II Tournament play-in game Tuesday night in Tonkawa.
With the loss, the Vikings finished the 2013-14 season at 3-25.

The year was 1992. We were preparing for a presidential election, which would end up being won by then-Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton. In the month of March of that year, late disco singing legend Donna Summer got her star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame and Leona Helmsley was sentenced to four years in prison for tax evasion.
Also in that same month, the Arkoma Lady Mustangs made the state tournament. Now, 22 years later, they're back.
WILBURTON — The Heavener Lady Wolves saw their basketball season end with a 52-37 loss to the Wilburton Lady Diggers in the Class 3A Regional Tournament consolation semifinals Friday night at the Wilburton Gym.
