HEAVENER — The Spiro Bulldogs, who were runners-up in last year's LeFlore County Baseball Tournament, were awarded the top seed of this season's event, which will begin Monday at four different sites.
At Tuesday afternoon's seeding meeting at Heavener High School, this year's host school, the Bulldogs got the top seed, followed by Poteau — last year's champion — and Pocola. All three will receive opening-round byes.
The last time the Poteau Pirates were home at Town Creek Park, they posted a pair of wins over Wister and Checotah. They returned to their friendly confines Monday night, but the outcome wasn't the same as they lost 4-3 to the Sallisaw Black Diamonds.
It was a case of one team getting hits, the Red Oak Lady Eagles, and the other team, the Poteau Lady Pirates, not when they met Monday afternoon.
The Lady Eagles outhit the Lady Pirates 20 to 5 en route to a 12-1 victory to hand Poteau its first loss this season.
