Poteau junior right-hander Kade McMillin almost got a no-hitter in Monday afternoon's game with the Roland Rangers at a chilly Town Creek Park. He had a no-hitter through 5.1 innings, and settled for a two-hitter as the Pirates blanked the Rangers 5-0.
WILBURTON â€” The Howe Lady Lions went 1-2 on Friday at the Wilburton Festival.
The Lady Lions edged Panola 7-6, but lost 7-6 in six innings to Hartshorne and suffered a 6-0 shutout at the hands of Hugo.
Howe's road three-way Tuesday afternoon at Talihina with Quinton was canceled and will not be made up.
Editor's note: Poteau's Tuesday home game with Roland was canceled by the Lady Rangers with no make-up date set.

Betty Lou (Perry) Mitchell, 68, of Arkoma died Sunday, April 13, 2014.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro and 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Hope Holiness Church in Lindsay. Burial will be in Dibble Cemetery.
Jess Burns Jr., 57, of Poteau died Monday, April 14, 2014, in Poteau.

Patsy Lee Johnson, 56, of Checotah, formerly of Poteau died Friday, April 11, 2014. Patsy was born in Poteau Nov. 19, 1957, to John and Oma Lee (Ward) Metzker. She attended Carl Albert State College. Pasty was preceded in death by her parents.
I was hoping that the 2014 LeFlore County Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament would be as exciting as the baseball one was the week before. I got my wish.
Just like the baseball county tournament, the slow-pitch county tournament was forced to the if-game â€” and an if-game that had some drama as until the final out was made the game was still in doubt. We saw a new county queen crowned, the Heavener Lady Wolves, as they won the school's first-ever softball county title. However, they also suffered their first loss of the season, losing to Pocola in the first title game Thursday night.
BATTIEST â€” The Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs went 1-2 in the Battiest Tournament this past weekend. After beating Roland 7-6 on Friday, they lost later that day 7-3 to host Battiest and fell 9-1 to Broken Bow on Saturday.
Talihina's games in the event were not reported by press time.
Monday Games Canceled
All of Monday's games were rained out due to Sunday's rain. Games lost to wet fields were Poteau and Fort Gibson at Muldrow, Cameron at Howe, Muldrow at Panama, Pocola at Quinton and Wister at Buffalo Valley.
