MUSKOGEE â€” The Poteau Lady Pirates went 1-4 in last weekend's Muskogee Tournament.
The Lady Pirates beat the host school 11-3 in the final game of the two-day event on Saturday.
However, on Friday, the Lady Pirates lost 16-7 to Jenks, 11-3 to Westmoore and 15-1 to Tulsa Union. On Saturday, the Lady Pirates fell 6-4 to Sequoyah-Tahlequah.
SPIRO â€” During her four years as a Spiro Lady Bulldog, senior forward Philicea Mack has enjoyed success as well as two trips to the Class 3A State Tournament. Now, she'll have chances to be suceessful at the next level.
Mack signed a letter of intent with Connors State College on Tuesday morning inside the Spiro Multipurpose Gym.
A beginner and intermediate smartphone workshop will be held at the Kiamichi Technology Center in Poteau on April 11. The workshops will include use of the iPhone and iPad as business tools.
Registration is $15 for one workshop or $25 for both.

Poteau Police and LeFlore County Emergency Medical Services are responding [April 9 at 2:25 p.m.] to a car v. pedestrian accident on North Broadway near Jensen's Lube.
One person is reported to have minor injuries.

What looked to be a pitcher's duel early on turned into a rather large victory for the visiting Fort Gibson Tigers in Monday's game at Town Creek Park.
After trailing 1-0 in the opening inning, the Tigers used a six-run seventh inning to break open a close game en route to an 8-2 victory over the Pirates, who now have lost three straight after being within a game of winning the 2014 LeFlore County Tournament last week.
Monday Games Canceled Due to Wet Fields
Poteau was the only baseball team to play Monday as everyone else was canceled due to wet fields.
HULBERT â€” Poteau golfers Cody Shore and Jarrett Lowrimore were among the top medalists at Saturday's Fort Gibson Invitational at Western Hills Golf Course.
Shore won the individual title with a 70, while Lowrimore was eighth with an 80.
As a team, the Pirates were runners-up to the host Tigers. Fort Gibson's team score was 305, while Poteau had a 320.
John Scott Sanders had Poteau's third-best individual score with an 84, followed by Connor Wheat with an 86. Jeremiah Loggains shot a 92.
James Sherman Brown Jr., 90, of Pocola died Sunday, April 6, 2014, in Pocola.Â Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Evans Memorial Chapel, Pocola. Family visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Pocola.
Johnathan Bohannon, 68, of Howe died Sunday, April 6, 2014.
Services were held Tuesday, April 8, at Heavener Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Dowden Roberts Funeral Home.
Several items are on the Pocola Board of Trustee's agenda for tonight [April 8] at 7 p.m.
Pocola Fire Chief Wesley Riggs is on the agenda for termination and a replacement is named should the council vote in favor of termination.
The meeting is held at City Hall in Pocola on South Pocola Boulevard.
