Ronnie Hollie, 68, of Bokoshe entered the Lord’s kingdom on March 19, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Ronnie was born October 18, 1943 in Henry, to Charles Cyril and Gladys Bernice (Cheshier) Hollie. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Sharon Stiles and Linda Stark. Ronnie was a U.S. veteran, mechanic, chicken farmer and cattleman. He was a member of the Bokoshe Church of Christ.Â
Joe Boyd “J.B.” Hayes, 89, of Pocola died Sunday, March 18, 2012, in Pocola. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 22, in Evans Memorial Chapel, Pocola. Burial will be in Spiro City Cemetery — Garden of Memories, under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Pocola.
Tommy Fuller, 68, of Pocola died Friday, March 16, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, with Rev. David Nolen officiating. Burial will be in Shady Point Cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home.Â
William Charles “Charlie” Phillips, 83, of Howe died Saturday, March 17, 2012, in Poteau. Charlie was born Feb. 27, 1929, in Poteau to Hansel J. and Marie (Hale) Phillips. Charlie was a self-employed businessman. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Hansel Phillips Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Kristen Lovell.
Paul Wesley Watkins, 83, of Poteau died Sunday, March 18, 2012, in Poteau. Paul was born Jan.
Olen Eugene Faulkenberry, 86, of Poteau went to be with his Heavenly Father on March 18, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was born Feb. 5, 1926, at Monroe to Clarence and Arla Faulkenberry. Olen Eugene Faulkenberry married Evie Lorene Roberts on Feb. 5, 1944, at Midway. He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WW II, and a retired insurance agent.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dovie Midgley.
Four-year old Tegan Stimac is just like any other preschooler in a lot of ways; she enjoys playing outside, pretending to be The Little Mermaid, and hunting with Daddy. What truly sets her apart from the crowd is her enormous passion to help people.
While it may be Spring Break, there's still some action on the diamonds this week.
The Poteau Wood Bat Festival will be Wednesday through Friday at Town Creek Park, Howe's Lions Field and Cameron.
Also, the Class 3A Preview will take place Thursday through Saturday in Spiro.
Not to be outdone, the Wister Wildcats and the Whitesboro Bulldogs will be in the Union City Festival Thursday and Friday.
Also, the Talihina Golden Tigers will represent LeFlore County at the Broken Bow Tournament.
As for softball, Cameron and Howe will be in the Red Oak Festival on Thursday.
It was a good three-day, five-game series for Carl Albert State College baseball.
First off, the Vikings took four of five games from the Southwestern (Iowa) College Spartans at Ival Goodman Field.
The Vikings swept the Spartans by scores of 7-3 and 2-1 on Saturday, and ended the series with a 6-4 win in a nine-inning contest Monday afternoon.
The two teams split a pair of 10-0 run-rule games Sunday afternoon, with Carl Albert taking the opener.
CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Carl Albert State College softball team went 2-2 over the weekend at the Carthage Bash, ending things on a high note with two wins.
On Sunday, the Lady Vikings doubled up Butler 4-2, then ending the event with a 15-7 run-rule victory over MapleWoods, Mo.
The weekend did not start on a high note as the Lady Vikings lost 12-3 to Iowa Western and 3-2 to Indian Hills, Iowa.
The Lady Vikings will return to action at 2 p.m. next Tuesday in a road doubleheader against Connors State College in Warner.
