Despite the score being tied at 15-15 at halftime, the Western Oklahoma State College Lady Pioneers were able to outscore the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings by 10 points in the second half to come away with a 49-39 win in the first game on Monday night's Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference contest in Altus.
Too many turnovers for the Vikings proved to be the difference in a 74-50 win for the Pioneers in Monday night's OCAC nightcap.
The Poteau Youth Wrestling Club had lots of representation throughout the state last weekend.
Luke Brooks won his weight class title at the Cushing Open.
The majority of the members competed at the Cascia Hall Tournament in Tulsa, where Dauntay Warren claimed gold in his weight class.
At the Cascia Hall Tournament, Bryson Terry, Ross Johnson and Dada Jones were all runners-up, Race Williams was third and Jarrett Lilley and Brandon Hartley were fourth.

When a team is the host for an event, that team would like to have some success in front of the home fans. The Poteau Pirates wrestling team did a pretty good job of accomplishing that goal this past weekend.
Two Pirates won titles and eight total wrestlers placed at the 2012 Maverick Conference Tournament at Carl Albert State College's Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.
In the high school division, Poteau's Tyler Tustin won the 132-pound title. After being second best in last year's conference tournament, coming in first made the weekend complete.
SALLISAW — The Poteau High School basketball teams split their road games Friday night against Sallisaw's teams.
The Pirates made the Black Diamonds walk the plank in a 39-26 victory, but the Lady Black Diamonds mined a 51-32 win over the Lady Pirates.
ARKOMA — The Howe High School basketball teams got a sweep of the Arkoma squads Friday night at the Arkoma Gym.
The Lady Lions had a tussle for about 2.5 quarters before using their 14 3-point baskets to enable them to pull away for a 72-49 win over the Lady Mustangs.
In the boys' game, the Lions proved to be too much for the Mustangs as Howe beat Arkoma 57-34.
CAMERON — The Cameron Yellowjackets earned a share of the 2011-12 Green Valley Conference championship with a 57-51 win over the McCurtain Bulldogs Friday night at the Cameron Gym.
The win for the Yellowjackets, coupled with Wister's loss to Keota Friday night, gave the ’Jackets a share of the Green Valley Conference title with the Wildcats.
CAMERON — Lady Luck returned to the Cameron Lady Yellowjackets.
Tasha Janway's buzzer-beating 3-point basket lifted the Lady ’Jackets to a 43-41 come-from-behind win over the McCurtain Lady Bulldogs Friday night at the Cameron Gym.
The win gave the Cameron girls their second win of the season.
Heavener 54, Hartshorne 46: In Heavener, the Lady Wolves jumped out to a 10-6 lead after one period and never relinquished the advantage.
