June 6, 2013

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt is issuing a warning about a lottery scam that he says cost one couple $20,000.

Pruitt says the couple reported that a man told them they had won the lottery and a new car — but had to first pay taxes and fees up front. The couple also said the man told them he knew Pruitt and that the transactions were approved by the attorney general's office.

Pruitt says legitimate lottery and sweepstakes organizations do not ask for money up front.

It is time for some fishing

June 6, 2013

June is here, and my schedule for this month is on my fridge. When Paula penciled in the games, I could not believe that we only had one day off in the month.
Of course, we had a rainout, and I have rescheduled a game for that day. I have decided that I may have to go back to work to get some rest.
On the bright side, that rain out gave me a chance to do some fishing with Chuck Restine.
We headed to Lake Tenkiller and tried to catch some smallmouth bass. I managed to catch one, along with a couple of black bass and a couple of sand bass.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal says volunteers from Smithville Baptist Church will leave Wednesday to take a trailer full of supplies to Moore, Okla.

A deadly EF5 tornado hit devastated Smithville in April 2011. Sixteen people were killed and 153 homes, four churches, the Town Hall, the police headquarters and 14 of the 15 businesses in the one-square-mile town were destroyed.
