The weather finally feels like December, and I have been hooked up at work and havenâ€™t got to hunt since the cold front hit. This should get the deer in feeding mode, so hunting food sources should be good this time of year.
This weekend, I am going to get to hunt at least one day, so maybe the weather will cooperate â€” and I can get a shot at a deer. Last weekend, Dan Carter and I took our wives on a weekend trip to stay in a cabin near Sardis Lake.
A benefit has been scheduled to help a local family struggling with illness.
On Dec. 17 at 5:30 p.m. in the Panama Elementary School cafeteria, a benefit will be held to help Tim Crase and his family. The event will feature a silent auction and will offer hamburgers and hotdogs and a pie and cake auction. All proceeds will benefit the Crase family.

FORT GIBSON â€” A late surge by the Fort Gibson Tigers wrestling team spelled doom for the Poteau Pirates in Tuesday night's first Class 4A District Dual.
Leaidng 27-12 at the midway point of Tuesday night's dual, the Tigers ended up winning six of the final seven bouts as they rallied for a 44-33 victory â€” and a leg up on the berth to the Class 4A Dual State Tournament in February.
POCOLA â€” The Talihina Golden Tigers beat the Pocola Indians 59-46 Friday night in the semifinals of the Choctaw Nation Tournament. Tuesday night when the two teams had their rematch, it was all Pocola.
The Indians used a strong second period to down the Golden Tigers 62-47.
Leading 16-12 after a period, the Indians outscored the Golden Tigers 20-4 in the second quarter to take a 36-16 halftime lead.
